The villain: it's disgusting how the church treats Blades. They hand us out like slaves, to serve as soldiers in wars that will never benefit us.

The entire rest of the game so far: so Blades are like Pokemon, only they look like hot girls and you can fuck them.

I don't know anything about Xenoblade, but this reminds me of hybrid AUs who can't tell if they want to go with "Hey, owning sapient beings as sex slaves is wrong" or "Hey, wouldn't it be hot if you had a catboy who you were in a 24/7 socially-sanctioned D/S relationship with" and they just try to go with a weird mix of the two.

I call it "wanting to have your cake and fuck it too".

I’ve never read a Hybrid AU. But I just realized, to my alarm, that the central fantasy on display in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is in some ways similar to the Katou Jun manga “My Horny Pet is a Big-Tittied Animal-Eared Shemale.”
