Shout out to the game Dark Scavenger. You’re stranded on an alien world, trying to find a power source for your spaceship. Three different factions are warring for reasons almost incomprehensible from an outside perspective, and you stumble through it with no idea what’s going on. Sometimes they try to kill you, sometimes they try to help you, and it can be hard to tell which is which. The whole planet seems bizarre and wrong.

What gradually becomes apparent is that from the locals’ perspective, you’re the one who’s bizarre and wrong. You stumble in out of nowhere, do things that make no sense, and leave chaos in your wake. People are dead who would have lived if you’d never showed up, and the final boss calls you out on being just as destructive as he is.

You can agree, and just walk off without a fight. Or you can redeem yourself. You may not know much about what’s good and evil anymore, but you can tell well enough that he’s going to kill a lot of people, and right now, you’re the only one in a position to stop him. For the first time in the game, you can do something unambiguously good by putting an end to him.
