feotakahariToday in WTF did I find on TV Tropes: an apparently popular DC Universe fanfic that starts in a time of unparalleled prosperity for Gotham. In listing off the changes that led to this, the fic briefly mentions that instead of sending mentally ill suspects to Arkham Asylum for treatment, Jim Gordon now executes them without trial. Then it moves on as if that doesn’t merit any further comment.
