I once had a customer who wanted to know if the shoes on display were real leather. I didn’t know, and they looked sufficiently leathery, so he was planning to buy four pairs by the time I looked it up on the Internet and discovered it wasn’t real leather. He thanked me and left without buying anything.

I later got fired from that job because of my terrible sales numbers.
