I was reading an article about a dig site where some incredibly well-preserved fossils had been found. I got more and more excited as it described all the different kinds of prehistoric animals buried there. Then I realized the paleontologist hadn’t released most of these findings to the scientific community. He’d only shown them to a journalist, who wasn’t as knowledgeable about paleontology. If you’re going to claim all kinds of big things, you’d better be willing to face scrutiny.
