I’m not sure it’s possible to have a society where the right to die is accepted, and people who’re in pain aren’t forced to cling to life, without also having a society where disabled people are “encouraged” to commit suicide.

Date: 2019-04-13 06:06 pm (UTC)The way I see it, and it's absolutely awful, is that I don't live in a perfect world. In a perfect world, I'd have the resources available to me to live well. But I don't, and I have WAY more hope of getting the legal right to die than I do the right to live. The former clearly can be acheived in my lifetime; the latter is highly unlikely to.
So I want the right to die for the same reasons that my homelessness was treated with anti-depressants: it's cheaper and more easily attainable.
