People talk about sex scenes with no purpose, but honestly, my biggest complaint is suicide scenes with no purpose. Sure, you’ve proved your story is “gritty” or whatever, but do you actually have anything to say other than “suicide is depressing, yo”?

I’m playing Ring of Pain

You know those games where your only hope of understanding the plot is piecing bits together from the item lore and the bestiary? Ring of Pain is what those games would look like if they didn’t have item lore or a bestiary. You and the main character have exactly the same understanding of what’s going on, which is to say, none at all, what the hell is this?

(It’s possible that hell literally is this. Makes as much sense as any other explanation.)
