What even is an Australian accent? I mean, I know the specific accent that people call Australian, but Australia is pretty damn big. They can’t all talk like that, just like Americans have more than one accent. Is there some specific region the so-called Australian accent comes from?

(It sounds similar to a New Zealand accent, and New Zealand is to the southeast, so maybe the Australian accent is southeastern?)
