Wikipedia seems to think the only reason for stimming is stress. There’s stuff about how to “manage” stimming by avoiding stressful situations. But I’ve seen posts about how cute it is when people happy stim. I take it this is one of those things people never bother to learn about when they’re only focused on “treating” autism.
