My apologies in advance to Tuesday and Morlock for this post on abortion and law:

I think the only reason law has value, and the meaningful case for having law instead of no law, is to stop people from doing things they want. Like if someone asks you “But if someone raped your daughter, wouldn’t you kill the rapist?” Maybe I’d want to, but I shouldn’t, and the law is supposed to stop me.

I don’t argue against killing fetuses. But suppose I were against killing fetuses, and someone asked “If you were raped, wouldn’t you want to abort?” In that case, the use of the law, if it has any use at all, is to stop me from aborting.
