Come to think of it, is there a distinction between self-describing as ”multiple” vs. ”plural”? Is this like bi and pan?

Near as we can tell, yeah.

Think once we encountered "multiple" being used as opposed to "median" (or, well - as opposed to "singlet" with "median" being defined as... in the middle... but the point is they were being treated as distinct)
but we're not sure how much people bother with that distinction nowadays.
