Another analogy nobody will be happy with. Some people look at the competition between individuals to make as much money as possible, and they see that as combining into an “invisible hand,” which they then anthropomorphize as something that wants a stable market. Other people look at the competition between individuals to pass on as many genes as possible, and they see that as combining into a “natural order,” which they anthropomorphize as something that wants a stable ecosystem. Both groups are making the same mistake.

Last night’s dream was about a video game with dual worlds.
The first world was a cutesy game in a seemingly child-friendly style where the mechanics were built around combat. Authority figures were corrupt or helpless, intractable social issues were ignored instead of resolved, and you were hopelessly ill-equipped to make things better.
The second world was a parallel take on the same characters, as an unabashedly idealistic porn game. Not child-friendly in the least, but no combat whatsoever.
The game had a framing device with the developer discussing what he wanted to make. The first world was the kind of game he’d spent his career reluctantly making for publishers and storefronts. The second world was what he made for himself.

An Arknights thought: Kaschei heats the air so it burns your throat if you open your mouth, so you can’t speak to interrupt his villain monologues. Doctor is seemingly immune to heat. Doctor wasn’t physically present for that fight, but he may be uniquely equipped to make Kaschei shut up.

Shout out to Devil Survivor for declaring, with very little setup, that every supernatural entity with “bel” in its name is a shard of the dead demon Bel, and now they’re fighting each other to reclaim his power and become the King of Bel. You’ve got Abel beating up Beldr, Jezebel, and Belzebub. It’s beyond stupid.
(Beldr couldn’t return from the dead because Loki wouldn’t cry for him, so now he’s a vengeful undead who wants to make the whole world cry. He’s still immune to normal attacks, so you have to poke him to re-death with a cell phone strap shaped like a sprig of mistletoe. Like I said, beyond stupid.)
