I’ve done the “people identify with monsters because they’ve been shamed and humiliated so much they can’t identify as human anymore” take. What about a synthesis? “People want to date monster girls because they’re so alienated from other people that they feel like only a monster would accept them.” This implies both a supply and a demand, so to speak, a little counterculture where you can be monsters and monsterfuckers away from the normies.

Cold take: if you’re dating one of those trans female rationalists who like to wear cat-ear headbands, that means you’re a monsterfucker. Hot take: if you’re dating a punk who wears a mohawk and a studded leather jacket, that means you’re a monsterfucker.
