Like, I still see posts sometimes from people who say we can’t have polyamorous marriages, because we’ll have this bad consequence and that bad consequence and the other bad consequence. But if someone wants to be in a polyamorous marriage and can’t be, that’s not treated as a good consequence or a bad consequence or any kind of consequence. It’s simply not treated as part of the equation, which makes it easier to say that polyamory has more bad consequences than good consequences. I think a lot of arguments are like that—you take the consequences that involve you personally, then pretend there are no other consequences besides those.
