I hate this whole “I’m being bad on purpose, because it’s ironic” thing, if only because no one ever keeps it up for the whole story. You just portrayed a child slowly and painfully dying from a bullet wound to the gut, and then you summed the whole thing up with a bad platitude, and I think it’s supposed to be a joke on how bad 1980s cartoons were at tackling serious issues, but then why were you literally dead-serious two minutes ago? You want to write like you’re not joking, but then you want assurance that no one will be able to criticize your writing, because any criticism is “missing the joke.”

There was an article I read once that I’ve never been able to find again. The header image was a drawing of Christopher Hitchens, Richard Dawkins, Daniel Dennett, and one other atheist whose name I don’t remember. They were reading a copy of How to Win Friends and Influence People, with varying degrees of skepticism and anger. I think of that drawing a lot.
