May. 7th, 2020 03:27 pmI'm thinking back on Dragonlance, and how dreary it got. You've got the good god, except he's not really good so much as self-righteous. He wants everyone to follow his standard of goodness, and if they won't, then they need to die. Then you've got the neutral god, who's portrayed as morally superior to the good god because he doesn't do squat. He could intervene in a war to prevent deaths on both sides, but he won't, because free will, yadda yadda. And the evil god is just a selfish git. And it's all conceived of like those are your only options--if you are a "good" person, you will be intolerant, and if you are a "neutral" person, you will be apathetic, and that's just the way it goes. It all feels rather pointless, to say that ther's no better path than doing nothing.
