I am still thinking about that post that’s like “‘Believe POC’ is cultural Christianity. When you unlearn Christianity, you know to listen to POC without necessarily believing.” It’s condescending, but it’s also an astounding rhetorical move I can only hope to equal someday.

Originium technology is a poisoned trade, but everyone makes the trade. Living without originium can be peaceful, but it’s also back-breakingly hard, and given the opportunity to offload some of that work to machines, every society eventually chooses to industrialize. The only folks who reject industry are the Rusthammers, who’re so out-there other rebel groups use them as a cautionary tale of what not to become. But at the same time, originium can never be made completely safe, and any society that industrializes faces the spread of a lethal, incurable disease among its industrial workers. It seems like Terra’s only hope is to find power sources other than originium.
