I’m reading Scar Night

This is impressively dreary. Almost everyone goes to hell. The people of one city are the only people who think going to hell is unfair and want to do something about it. Everyone else wants to kill them for being heretics. The city people commit war crimes and mob justice. The city is crumbling, and sometimes houses fall into the abyss. Angels are almost extinct, and one of the last ones has been murdering someone every month for the past two thousand years.
