My last dream: in a world of animal-people, an excitable young catgirl dreams of being a legendary hero. In this world, every kind of animal-person is known for one exceptional capability, like the cat-people's amazing reaction times or the sheep-people's springy wool that's impervious to most weapons, and tends to suck at everything else physical. But this is more a matter of averages, and to some extent stereotypes, and every species has folks who're good or bad at unexpected things.
The protagonist is roughly average at strength, speed, and durability, which by cat-person standards means she's strong, sturdy, and slow. Her sidekick is a nervous but loyal sheep-girl. As the tone gets more serious, her eventual enemies are vaguely angelic beings (in a non-Christian lowest-cosmic-denominator fashion), once charged with keeping peace between the different species, now trying to sow discord and pit them against each other. A young fallen-angel-girl starts as her enemy and becomes her love interest, providing magical backup for her physical capabilities.
I'm not sure I'm capable of writing this series at the fundamental level of cute it requires. It seems to me like something that should remain fun and child-friendly, with the villains being thwarted without major suffering or death.
