I would say that all of the characters in the good place are human, in that they're all people who are ultimately fallible and capable of growth, while having motivations recognizable to humans.
It's just that some of them have absolute authority over abstract concepts, too.
In a comedy, like the good place, this is very fun and charming. But, only because the show itself understands the fundamental irony and indeed horror of the "omniscient and omnipotent natural forces are just dumbasses too" concept.
