I suppose it’s odd that I largely talk of Scrapyard Station in terms of races and cultures rather than individual characters, but I don’t know if this setting can even support “heroic” figures. The war is boring at best and senseless at worst, generation after generation fed into the meat grinder to slow the Parasite advance and protect their homeworlds. No skilled pilot or daring general can single-handedly rewrite its course, and it will ultimately be won or lost over matters like supply lines and mass recruitment policies.
I have ideas for stories I want to do in this setting, but they’re just about people. People who fall in love, or leave home, or pursue a career, away from the front lines. People who live their lives, in spite of the knowledge that the Parasites may someday eradicate all evidence they ever existed.
