When I was younger, I used to actually believe the things Tumblrites say about how some authors “trivialize rape.” In a college writing club, I called out an author in front of the entire club for being disrespectful in her portrayal of rape. She was writing from personal experience.

I claim offense much less freely now, because I never want to be that hurtful again.
