In high school, one of the teachers made us watch a video about critical thinking. It told us that mummy curses aren’t real, because people notice a few coincidental deaths and falsely assume they’re a pattern. Then it told us global warming isn’t real, because people notice a few coincidental hot years and think they’re part of a pattern. If you want to claim that the people you disagree with are irrational, it’s easy to construct some argument for why they’re committing one of the various fallacies, but that doesn’t necessarily mean they’re wrong.

If you’ve been paying attention to recent mainstream feminist activism, you’d be forgiven for thinking that feminism is a movement for everyone, everywhere. The mistake that leads to this position is actually kind of interesting. It comes from a misunderstanding of the idea of ‘intersectionality’”

Huh. Let’s see where this is going.

If you think that trans women are women, then of course, being trans is one further source of disadvantage for women that can turn your street into an intersection.”

Oh wow.

If we accept that trans women are women, then a group of male people – formerly understood as the oppressors of female people – may well end up having priority within the feminist movement.”

OH WOW GO FUCK YOURSELF.
