Apr. 3rd, 2019 09:18 amWe can’t trust confessions, because the police threaten you into confessing, regardless of whether you’re actually guilty. We can’t trust witnesses, because they get things wrong all the time. And all manner of forensic techniques are just pseudoscience. So what can we trust to prove who committed a crime?

Apr. 3rd, 2019 05:50 pmJapanese gender essentialism is a hell of a trip. In a pattern I’ve seen several times, the FMC is trying to be tough and dangerous, but actually she’s weak and can easily be harmed by evil men. The lesson she learns is to find a guy who isn’t abusive, latch onto him like a lamprey, and have him do all the fighting. Somehow, this is supposed to be positive character development.
I want to see one of these games follow through to the logical conclusion. You’re small, weak, and surrounded by evil men. You will not beat them in a fair fight. So don’t fight fair! Sneak, poison, subvert, manipulate, and if all else fails, go straight for the balls. If your playing field isn’t level, then tip the fucking board over.
(Honorable mention to How to Take Off Your Mask, where you yourself decide whether the MC becomes a stoic protector or a bubbly sub, and both endings are considered good.)
