Apr. 30th, 2019 05:05 amI’m not going to respond directly to OP because they’re in mourning, and now isn’t a good time to poke them. I’ll just quote.
“if you’re planning on using the word “religion,” stop and think to yourself: do i mean Christianity? do i know that what i’m saying is broadly applicable to all, or even most religions? how do i know that? is what i’m saying actively wrong and harmful towards marginalized ethnoreligious groups?”
Based on my life experiences, I am opposed to the Buddhist idea of nirvana. I think it’s psychologically unhealthy, self-defeating, and easily exploited by terrible people who want you to stop feeling your pain instead of fighting back against the causes of your pain. If I lived in a time and place where nirvana was a more popular concept, I would push back against it more. But few people where I live care about nirvana, so I don’t really need to care.
You can have my apathy, as I hope I can have yours. I’m not a threat to you so long as you’re not a threat to me. But respect is earned, and I’ve yet to meet a religious ideology that did much to earn my respect. That’s why I say that it’s religion I dislike, not Christianity.
