In Strange Journey, my alignment-affecting choices were things like whether or not to shake someone’s hand, and it turned out that if I didn’t balance out my choices to end at Neutral, I’d be stuck committing genocide and brainwashing. Here, the Trickster is set up as a Chaotic Neutral route, but I went through chapters 1-4 playing it Chaotic Good without any problems. Now that I’m in chapter 5, my plot-important dialogue choices sound Chaotic Neutral, the minor NPCs talk like they’ve been brainwashed into being Chaotic Neutral, the quest descriptions indicate that my plans are going to end in a Chaotic Neutral mess if I’m not stopped, and my allies are openly worried about how Chaotic Neutral I’m acting.
I’ve heard Chaotic Neutral Demon players complain about how the final chapter railroads the Demon into Chaotic Evil. Is it like this for all the alignments? If you go Aeon, do you become the most Lawful Anal asshole? If you switch to Gold Dragon, do you become undiluted Stupid Good? Because that would seriously privilege Legend as the path where you can actually roleplay in your roleplaying game.
