If you reset some traps to kill enemy soldiers, he disapproves, because the chance of a few dead soldiers isn’t worth the risk of killing passersby. But if you kill an army deserter who might report your location, he approves, because there’s too much of a risk the deserter will sell you out to stop the army from chasing him. He’s the “pragmatic” character, but he does have standards; he just doesn’t let them overrule his good sense.
