One really cool idea in Lucifer Within Us: to determine that a suspect is the culprit, you need to identify their Means, Motive, and Opportunity. The culprit is the only one who has all three, but as a red herring, some of the other suspects have one or two. You can build two-thirds of a case against a suspect, then realize you’re never getting the final third because they didn’t do it.
