Sometimes people make a criticism, and it’s completely unrelated to the thing they’re criticizing, but would make sense if they were talking about something else. Like when people criticize Steven Universe, and they talk about all sorts of things that have nothing to do with Steven Universe, but would make sense if they were talking about Teen Titans Go. Or one time, I saw someone complain that Darkest Dungeon is so easy all you do is walk forward, and that makes no sense because Darkest Dungeon is hilariously difficult, but it would make sense if they said Ys II is so easy all you do is walk forward.

I just realized. When people say that Joss Whedon needs to have characters talk like human beings, instead of using them as interchangeable quip delivery machines? That would make so much more sense if they were talking about John Scalzi.
