On voting third party

When someone proposes something that might either reduce or increase deaths, they put a lot of effort into arguing that the lower amount of deaths is better than the middle amount of deaths for not following the new plan. I want to be convinced that the lower amount of deaths is more likely than the higher amount of deaths.
