There’s this really weird assumption a lot of the less bigoted people on Tumblr make, which is that the political class goes against the will of the people in order to be more bigoted than the people want. This leads into revolutionary fantasies, because if most people aren’t actually bigots and agree with you, surely they would join your revolution. They don’t seem to get how common and popular bigotry is.

From a post about Happy Saint Sheol:

"according to vndb they removed the adult content. The early access japanese version uncensored is lost media now since they delisted it. I doubt they will release a patch since the japanese version will not have erotic content too"

Not like I would have tried the demo if I'd known it was ero-guro, but I didn't like the demo anyway, so it might as well not be censored ero-guro. I mean, why'd you include that stuff in the first place if you think it can be blacked out without impacting the quality of the work? And do you really think enough mainstream folks like me will buy something like this to be worth alienating your actual audience?

Thinking some more about how to make the concept of an “adventurers’ guild” 10% more realistic. I like the idea that there are two separate rank systems.

Let’s call the mission-assigning folks the Taskmasters. Your rank with them is basically your “fame” statistic. They care about your track record, letting you take more dangerous jobs after you’ve shown you can handle the easier ones.

Your rank with your individual class guild is your “level,” and it works somewhat like a martial arts belt, or sometimes a player ranking in a sport. A high-level Druid is someone who’s advanced in the training Druids undergo. The fighter equivalent would probably be something like a Fencer, training to duel other Fencers.

You can be a Druid who never goes on adventures and just studies the philosophy. More rarely, you can be a self-taught adventurer with no guild. But it’s primarily adventurers who earn money to keep the guilds going.

Additional fun: Taskmasters are a guild, and some of them go on adventures. They specialize in anti-adventurer tactics, in case someone tries to rob them of their quest rewards.
