There’s this game called MO: Astray where the characters use a particular substance to enable FTL travel. That substance reminds me of Originium. If you play the game without looking for secrets, it comes across as a natural substance with some unusual properties. If you find the secret areas, you find out it’s an elder god’s spinal fluid, and he’s using it to turn people into zombie slaves. I think Originium is more aware and more malevolent than anyone realizes yet, and it’s probably linked to what the Abyssal Hunters are fighting.
