Nobody is going to like this comparison, but: transphobes get it in their head that they can identify anyone who’s trans. They claim someone who’s cis is trans, the cis person says “no I’m not,” and the transphobe thinks they’re lying. The transphobe thinks they have a 100% accuracy rate, because there isn’t a way to convince them they’re wrong.

I’ve seen folks do the same thing when they think they can perfectly identify fascists.
