In response to the recent Final Fantasy argument: “your game desperately needs black people” isn’t a fundamentally different standard from “your class system is horribly unbalanced” or “stop repeating the same boss in different colors.” It’s subjective, but so are all the things I hate about Dragon Quest, and I still reserve the right to call that series garbage. People can argue back and forth about it, and that doesn’t (necessarily) prove anyone involved is racist, just that they have different standards.
