TBH, my feelings about “killing fascists will make us safe” were almost entirely shaped by 20 years of “killing terrorists will make us safe.”
Friendless people told us they were unafraid to die, and we treated it as a bluff, and it wasn’t. Dying really was easier for them than going without the social bonding terrorist cells provided. Dying became marketable. They produced propaganda focused around a hero’s journey in which dying was the transformation that ascended you to legend.
Fascists are also willing to bleed and die for the sake of their collective ideal. But what if they had a collective that didn’t want to dispose of them like garbage? So a few people say they want to make friends with the fascists, and then the rest of you all go “that’s stupid. You’re stupid.”
