I'm not sure what the intended implications of your claim are.

Are you saying it should be OK to call the second group "atheist Christians" since people in the first group often call themselves "atheist Jews"? That we should be more aggressive towards atheist Jews to match the level of aggression Tumblr sometimes has for ex-Christian atheists? That we should be nicer to ex-Christian atheists?

That it’s time to stop claiming atheists are secretly fundamentalist Christians, for the same reason Jews don’t want to be blamed for what the Orthodox crowd believe.
