You say “X is real to group Y” as a way of expressing “members of group Y act as if X is real.” What this often means is “members of group Y enforce X to the limits of their power, even on people who don’t think it’s real.” And you think that by endorsing group Y’s ability to dictate “reality” for its subjects, you’re acting against colonialism?
