Jan. 4th, 2022 04:08 amI wasn’t a fan of Diminish, but I give it credit for how thoroughly it pulls the rug out of the “saintly dead girl, too pure for this world” thing. Not just in that she’s secretly frustrated with all of humanity--I’ve seen that a few times--but in that she’s allowed to be wrong. Her brother gets an amazing monologue about how she hated when people bowed down to the group’s idea of who and what they “should” be, while at the same time she tried to live (and end) her life based on how she thought other people wanted her to. “You’re not graded on how you die!”
