Dec. 2nd, 2023 05:42 pmI find it harder to write culturally diverse characters than neurodiverse characters, because for anything other than Americans, you’re expected to know a specific culture. Americans can have whatever traits, even if those traits have nothing to do with American culture, but everyone else is supposed to be “representative.” Then for neurodiverse characters, you can just come up with a plausible person and portray how they think, and as long as it’s not condescending or fearmongering, people are fine with it not matching any diagnosis.
