Reading an Elder Scrolls fanfic, and I’m getting a sense of why lycanthropy and vampirism are mutually exclusive in this setting. Lycanthropy is essentially the power of the fair fight. You’re meant to use it to hunt powerful foes, and Hircine punishes werewolves who hunt those who can’t fight back. Vampirism is the power of the unfair fight. You’re meant to use it to crush the weak, and more powerful vampires can crush you in turn.
