Apr. 9th, 2020 05:32 amIf you claim you know better than poor people about how they should budget their money, liberals will yell at you for being bigoted.
If you claim you know better than mentally ill people about how to treat mental illness symptoms, liberals will yell at you for being bigoted.
If you claim you know better than trans people about how to treat dysphoria, liberals will yell at you for being bigoted.
I swear I have seen liberals yell at doctors for thinking they know how to treat chronic illness. Obviously, chronically ill people must know better about how to treat it! (Never mind that I had no clue how to treat my symptoms until doctors told me what to do!)
So if your goal is to not get yelled at by liberals, it seems like your best bet is to never claim to know more than anyone about the problems they personally deal with.

I think maybe a lot of people are so sick of getting dragged into 101 discussions over and over that they overcorrect and start being hostile to the entire concept of 101 spaces, even consensual ones. Even *if* people with a *lifetime's* experience always know better, there's late-onset chronic illnesses! There's late-onset poverty! I'm still upset that I didn't find out about subsidised electricity until *years* after I became eligible for it! (And it *wasn't* a fellow poor person that let me in on it, it was a pamphlet I happened to see at ServiceOntario while renewing my health card.)
On the bright side, a fellow poor person *did* let me in on price matching, and I *am* very grateful. But one shouldn't have to rely so much on serendipity, on happening to know the right person or see the right ad. I've lost count of how many families I know who never recovered from the economic ravages of the late 00's, and we were mostly left to figure out our newfound poverty on our own, maybe sharing tips amongst ourselves if one household figured something out sooner than others.
