I guess this is what cognitive dissonance feels like. The actual argument my brain is constructing for why this must be a conspiracy theory isn’t anything to do with plausibility, because the news has beaten me down so thoroughly that even the most ridiculous atrocities no longer sound implausible. It’s that if I believed it, I would have to believe that the American government is so thoroughly evil that it cannot be cleansed without violence. I don’t support mass slaughter, so therefore I can’t believe this actually happened: https://yeinesomemdarre.tumblr.com/post/182632279987/justsomeantifas-tilthat-til-that-in-the-2010

Elro thinks he's the lone hero and he knows better than everyone else. Mina thinks she's a fuckup and the rest of her society knows better than her. Mina's a lot more likable, whether despite or because of how clearly she doesn't like herself. But I respect how Elro can score points against her sometimes, because he actually thinks about what the people around him tell him instead of just accepting it. "Have you ever questioned what you believe in for more than two minutes?"

(Almost every named character has gotten at least one moment where I respected them, and most of them have gotten at least one moment where I hated their guts. Clearly there aren't supposed to be uncomplicated heroes and villains here.)

Edit: I got really freaking frustrated with the prison break section, so I looked up spoilers to see whether they would make me care enough about the story to keep playing. Holy shit with a side of fries. And I thought Empowered got stupidly depressing. So yeah, there’s not going to be a third of these posts.
