I made this mistake while playing Pathfinder: Kingmaker, forgot about it, and made it again while playing Wrath of the Righteous. When the game says “attack roll,” it means accuracy roll. “Damage roll” is completely separate. So if Weapon Finesse makes your melee attack roll depend on your sky-high Dexterity, your melee damage roll will still depend upon your terrible Strength.
