Jan. 17th, 2019 12:15 pmI recently saw a post about how right-wingers are less exclusive than left-wingers. Among other things, it mentioned that right-wing Nazi revivalists get along well with right-wing Jewish anti-communists.
I normally argue that people mean what they say. For once, I’d like to argue the opposite. If Nazis get along with Jews, maybe their goal isn’t to further Nazism, but to “trigger the libs.” If Jews get along with Nazis . . . well, I’ll leave that as an exercise to the reader.

A hugbox is a derogatory term for an environment, usually on the internet,
in which a group with similar interests gathers to discuss topics in what
they intend to be a safe, comforting, and confrontation-free environment.
What they intend to be a “safe space” almost always turns into a circle-
jerk of forced consensus and ends with every member repeatedly expressing
the exact same opinion to each other, no matter the topic…
Moderators of these groups are usually extremely militant and do not
tolerate even the slightest dissenting opinion. Members of these groups are
usually so hypersensitive that the moment a contrary opinion appears the
entire community explodes in a total drama shitstorm…

This is unique to the lockstep collectivist Left, and has no conservative equivalent. Note the #livejournal tag: I encountered it again and again over there. Each and every instance I encountered of “Parrot my views or be banned” was a brittle hothouse feminist SJW.
Meanwhile, as a libertarian who firmly believes that they govern best who govern least, I can symbolically or literally wear a t-shirt bearing such slogans as “What Part of ‘Shall Not Be Infringed’ Do You Not Understand?” or “Never Apologize for Being a Patriot”, and gain prima facie acceptance by some really scary people in the “American Taliban” with whom I would not wish to be associated! The enemy of my enemy is my friend…
No, since the 1930s “the Big Lie” has been a basic tool of coerced, collectivist socialism, and the very notion that this cabal of viciously bigoted power junkies is in any way “tolerant and inclusive” is just more of the same. Deviate from the established Party line in any particular, as did Tammy Bruce, formerly of the NOW - and watch what happens.

I’d never heard of it! I’d take what they say with a fact-checked grain of salt - like any such source, Right or Left, they have no incentive to be objective… But they’d mention what Vox or HuffPost never would.

Date: 2019-01-18 08:57 pm (UTC)The one I got a kick out of back in the day was The Spotlight. This was the Populist whackyjack writ out, all about how the shadow government was running everything and how the UN was going to take over the world just any day now, &c., &c. - yet never felt any need to give one scrap of evidence for any of this: Sheer repetition sufficed. Nor was there ever any suggestion of what we were supposed to DO about any of it. Grr-rr in unison… but then, what?
Still, it appealed to people who had nothing but could at least make believe they were In The Know about what was Really Going On.

Date: 2019-01-19 12:36 am (UTC)Oh. Well, y’ know, I might have to test that, because my belief - that America was founded on the principle of “Leave Me Alone,” and people who know what’s best for me can leave a message - alienates me from the Bible-thumpers and the Marxists alike. Boo hoo hoo. In my America, they may exist freely. May I exist in theirs? No, I thought not. But people risked their lives to get to my America. *climbs down off soapbox*

Date: 2019-01-19 12:46 am (UTC)By the way, as a closing note, it actually does make sense for Nazis to peacefully coexist with anti-Communists of any stripe, as that’s what the NSDAP was set up to be! The lyrics to the Horst Wessel Lied speak of “comrades shot down by Red factions marching in our ranks in spirit”. The anti-Semitic, Final Solution angle was something else entirely - just as central, maybe, but separate. In some might-have-been of history, the Afghan mujahideen would have received German weapons to fight the Soviet invasion. The enemy of my enemy…
