I have multiple complaints about the ending of Little Hope, but the biggest one is that only one choice I made across the entire game really mattered.
Since the monsters and most of the people are all hallucinations, the only way to get a bad ending is if you hurt yourself or the one other person who isn’t a hallucination. The only way to do so is with the gun. I chose not to pick up the gun near the beginning, so from that point on, I couldn’t lose. Even the times I got someone killed didn’t affect the ending, since they were hallucinations anyway! So in retrospect, all the effort I put into solving the mysteries and protecting the characters feels wasted.
