That idiot holding a blue-ringed octopus seems like he sums up a certain kind of . . . Privilege, I want to say? It’s a worldview that focuses a lot on aesthetic beauty, especially “natural” beauty, without going to much effort to understand how “natural” things work and how they interact with each other.
headspace_hotel writes takedowns of these people sometimes, and a recurring theme is that they seem to think of “nature” as a thing they can only act upon and not be acted upon by. So they think a bear or whatever is cute, and then they’re surprised when the bear eats them, because they didn’t think the bear would respond to their presence unless they wanted it to.
