When you get down to it, I don’t actually “believe women.” I believe in abusive husbands and horrible male relatives, but so much of the rhetoric comes down to Stranger Danger for adults, often tinged with racism (the black man will assault you) or sanism (the crazy man will assault you.) But I piss people off when I argue this on sites that have even a token respect for women, and I don’t want to be on sites that don’t respect women at all. I feel like I must be stupid if so many people call me stupid, but I don’t feel I can change my mind to believe in “Schrodinger’s rapist” or whatever the fuck.
