There's a different spell that briefly keeps you alive if your HP hits 0.
There's a boss that ignores both effects. I'm at level 999 with massive investment in HP ups, and he still hits for three times my max HP if I don't block. When I did block, using a different spell that makes blocking more effective, I discovered this attack is multihit.
I suppose it figures a rape porn game would actively hate the player.
Edit: A guide says Break works to stop this attack. I guess it just failed for some reason when I did it?
