Okay, trope question. You know that thing where a space dude with a laser gun crashes down in a setting with magic and knights and stuff? Who started that originally? Was it a Might and Magic thing?

My new party member is at the level cap when he’s first recruited. He has ten times as much HP as the rest of my party. He’s immune to every negative status effect. His unique, unremovable armor halves all incoming damage. He’s a lovable dork who immediately becomes a welcome presence in the party. Man, the target on his back can be seen from space.
