 Sure, the Dewey Decimal System was named after a guy who was considered excessively racist even by the standards of the time. But at least it’s not as bad as Breen numbers.

I read about members of the Catholic Church in Rome talking to the press about CSA. They expected to get Roman Catholic reporters who would softball everything, and they were completely caught off guard by American reporters who weren’t Catholic and wanted to play hardball. I think that story explains a lot about the Catholic Church’s general handling of the CSA scandal. “We’re God’s representatives. So if you tell us not to molest kids, you’re arguing with God. Arguing with God means you go to Hell. Therefore, respect our authority!”

I once read a book called Little Fuzzy, which was about the discovery of childlike animals that might or might not be sapient. It’s one of the few science fiction classics from before the 1970s that’s aged well, and I fully intend to write a post about it if and when I ever reread it. In the meantime, the closest thing I’ve seen to another story like Little Fuzzy is a fanfic for a webcomic I’ve never read.
